Matthew J. Byun, MD
Downtown Columbus and East ColumbusDr.Byun received his undergraduate degree with Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University. He subsequently received his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. After a surgical internship at Mount Carmel Health System, he completed his ophthalmology residency at University of Cincinnati where he served as a chief resident. He then completed his medical and surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at a combined program of University of Illinois at Chicago and University Retina and Macula Associates.
Dr.Byun has a special interest in the medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, and retinal detachment.
Dr. Byun is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date and highest quality medical and surgical care to patients. He has been an investigator in many clinical trials for age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He has presented at several institutions and meetings and published multiple peer reviewed articles.
Dr.Byun is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He holds a professional membership with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He is seeing patients at the Downtown Columbus, East Columbus, and Delaware offices.
