Mashal Akhter, MD
Dr. Mashal Akhter is originally from Springfield, Ohio and received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Medical Honor Society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, where she was voted the most compassionate resident by her peers. She then went on to pursue a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute, where she was the

Her research and clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, epiretinal membrane, macular,hole, ocular inflammatory disease, and complex retinal detachment repair.
Dr. Akhter is Board-Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. She is seeing patients in Springfield, Downtown Columbus, East Columbus, and Delaware offices. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, playing tennis and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
